We’re on a Mariah run today! Can you tell?
Following the great launch of her single Triumphant (Get ‘Em), there was no other step other than to make a huge event to promote her new album. Her label Def Jam oragnised a press day to have a Q&A session with the singer.
Our friends at That Grape Juice were lucky enough to be on the call, and here is the update from them:
On R&B she explained:
It would be incredible if we could bring that days when R&B records didn’t have to crossover and just be hits on their own.I remember back when those records were the soundtracks of people’s lives.
I remember when I was pregnant with dem babies they only responded to the songs with the classic R&B feel.
However, in an attempt not to offend her Pop counterparts, she added:
It just makes me sad that there are so many great R&B artists out there that don’t get the chances that they should.
Mariah also spoke about doing a collab with the likes of Drake and singer Frank Ocean (which we at Lifesmusik think would be the ONE!).
The latest album has not been given a title yet, however the singer has a catalogue of over 100 pre recorded songs to choose from to make her album just right! But as you can see, it’s most definitely going to have an R&B revival to it, which we miss terribly!
